County Parks provide an ideal setting for your next group
outing. Conveniently located at some of the most
scenic places in Westchester, each facility provides its own unique
backdrop for a day of fun, food and relaxation. Whether you are
looking for a shady area along the Hudson River, a breezy point on
Long Island Sound, or a ballfield for the annual family softball
game, you'll find the perfect spot in Westchester County Parks. A
Group Picnic Permit entitles you and your guests to the exclusive
use of the area of the park you select. You and your group will also
be eligible to use the boat launch areas, pools, beaches, miniature
golf courses and other recreational amenities that are available at
the park you choose. Each picnic site offers your group the use of
grills and picnic tables. And, to ensure that your event is a
success rain or shine, covered pavilions are also available at

Crawford Park,
122 North Ridge Street, Rye

Crawford Park is a 36 acre preserve located off Ridge
Street in Rye Brook. The Park contains an early 20th century mansion, hundreds
of mature trees, an expansive lawn, a playground, a large picnic pavilion and a
sunken garden. The Crawford mansion, the pavilion and the ball fields are
available for rental
to Rye Town residents through the Town of Rye, call 914-939-3075 for more

Croton Gorge, Route 129, Cortlandt, 914-827-9568
Croton Gorge Park is a 97-acre property at the
base of the Croton Dam and affords impressive views of the dam and
spillway. The park is a popular spot for fishing, picnicking and
hiking, with direct trail access to New York State’s Old Croton
Aqueduct, which begins here.The Croton River also begins here. The
bridge that spans the Croton River and affords the best view of the
spectacular spillway is once again open to the public after a repair
project.

Croton Point Park,

Croton Point Park is a 508-acre park situated on a peninsula on the
east shore of the Hudson River. This park offers year-round events
and activities and has facilities for camping, hiking and swimming.

DeVries Park and Field,
199 Devries Ave, Sleepy Hollow, NY 10591
The park has two ball fields, a bocce court, horseshoe pits, picnic
area, a playground and a greenway trail. DeVries Park and Field is
maintained and operated by the Village of Sleepy Hollow Recreation
Department, which can be reached at 914-366-5109.

Franklin
D. Roosevelt State Park,

A scenic haven approximately 40 miles from New York City, Franklin
D. Roosevelt State Park offers day trippers a day of fun and
relaxation. The park's spacious picnic areas, which can accommodate
individual families as well as large groups, may be reserved in
advance. In addition the park offers a host of other activities for
people of all ages to enjoy.

Gedney
Park, Millwood on Route 133, Chappaqua,
One of New Castle’s largest parks, 126 acres of extremely varied
topography, with fields, wetlands, a manmade pond and Gedney Brook
which flows into pond in valley in the park created by two ridges.
Streams, rock walls, steep rocky woodlands and sloping and level
woodlands. Road system connects different park areas.
Dedicated to playgrounds, hiking trails, ice
skating, sledding, picnic shelters, pond, soccer fields, baseball
fields and tennis courts.

George's Island Park,

George’s Island Park is a 208 acre waterfront
park offering magnificent views of the historic Hudson River. It
contains tidal wetlands, a fresh water pond and wooded trails and
provides boat access to the Hudson River as well as areas for nature
study and picnicking. In winter, it is a favored spot for viewing
eagles on the Hudson.

Glen Island Park,
Pelham Road, New Rochelle, 914-813-6720
This 105-acre island property is connected
to New Rochelle by a drawbridge built in the 1920s. After Playland,
Glen Island is the second most widely used park in the County Parks
system. One of Westchester’s unique jewels, Glen Island Park also
offers picnic pavilions, reservable and open picnic areas, boat
launching, and pathways. Cannons, sculptures and castles with
coursed rubble stone, arched openings and round towers still remain
from the days of John Starin’s resort.

Kingsland Point Park,

One of Westchester's most beautiful parks with
tremendous views of the Hudson river. This county-owned,
18-acre park has ball fields, picnic areas, kayaking facilities and
provides access to the Kingsland Point Lighthouse, also known as the
Tarrytown Lighthouse

V. Everit Macy Park,
Saw Mill River Road, Ardsley, 914-946-8133
This 172-acre park is centrally located in the county and a perfect
spot for group picnics. The park is actually divided into three
distinct areas with slightly different atmospheres. One part
functions as a local park with ballfields, a playground, comfort
station and picnic pavilion. Another includes Woodlands Lake,
fishing, ice skating, a recently-closed restaurant, access to the
South County Trailway, and 500 feet of the former Putnam Division
Railroad. The final area is largely undeveloped.

Saxon Woods Park,
Mamaroneck Avenue, White Plains, 914-995-4480
Saxon Woods Park is a 700 acre property offering a variety of
recreational facilities. The park
contains an 18-hole golf course as well as a miniature golf course,
the county’s largest swimming pool, a children’s aquatic playground
and picnic areas. It is also the site of the county’s only
playground that is accessible to the disabled. A trail system
connects the southern section to the upland wooded northern part of
the park, characterized by mature hardwood forests.

Ridge Road Park, Ridge Road, Hartsdale, 914-946-8133
The flat developed terrain of this 236
acre park is ideal for family and group picnicking. It offers
reservable picnic areas with three pavilions, a playground
and athletic fields - including the
Miracle Field for children and adults with disabilities.
The undeveloped parts of the site are heavily wooded with trails.
One charmingly rustic single-story picnic shelter, was built in 1942
by the Works Progress Administration.

The Park’s 278-acres include a swimming pool complex, arboretum and
two picnic areas. The remainder of the park is heavily wooded with a
variety of hiking and mountain bike trails.

Tibbetts Brook Park,

Tibbetts Brook Park is one of the
first parks developed by the county. This 161 acre park offers many
recreational activities throughout the year and hosts ethnic
celebrations, fairs and festivals during the summer months. The park
is now seen as a refuge from urban living, an oasis of green
surrounded by the city. It offers woodlands, lakes, playing fields,
playgrounds and a swimming complex and includes a major activities
lawn that hosts various events.

Ward Pound Ridge,

The 4,315-acre park makes Ward Pound Ridge
Reservation the county’s largest park. With its varied terrain and
landscapes and miles of wooded trails, the park provides a variety
of activities in all seasons. There are areas for picnicking,
lean-to camping, fishing and cross-country skiing.

Willson's Woods Park, 14 Bradford Road, Mount Vernon, 914-813-6990 Willson’s Woods is one of the oldest parks
in the county parks system. The park is characterized by a beautiful
bathhouse set along the local road that bisects the park. The
bathhouse and one million-gallon pool were completed in 1928. The
park is well-known for its waterpark,
Willson's Waves, complete with a wave pool where you can body
surf on three-foot waves; splash downward on an 18-foot high water
slide; wander through cascades and fountains in the water
playground; or just cool off on the spray deck., water slides, a
spray deck and water playground. The park also has areas for
picnicking and fishing.
